Sometimes there are things about “oldies” that I find funny, especially with my dad. Few weeks ago, he asked me what’s so special about Starbucks coffee, why is it more expensive compared to other beverages, how does it taste, etc. He said that the place looks “sosyal” so he wanted to have that Starbucks coffee experience, hahaha! Of course I laughed because it’s just an ordinary thing to me. I practically spend at least three days a week (for 3 hours) there since I began schooling. But it didn’t just end in curiosity. Just like a child, he kept on asking me almost everyday, when am I going to bring him and mom there. And he gets frustrated everytime I say I’ve no time yet, since I’m busy at work and with my studies.
Late this afternoon, while inside the cab on our way home from our relatives’ place in Marikina, I finally got the
opportunity to grant his wish… and he finally got what he’s asking for. His “FIRST STARBUCKS COFFEE EXPERIENCE”. He got a hot dark cherry mocha and peppermint mocha frappuccino for mom. I even heard him said to my mom, “mga sosyal talaga pumupunta dito….” I just pretended I didn’t hear.
I haven’t really got any Christmas present for them but I’m glad I’ve given them a wonderful experience, as a gift (which I didn’t expect). The happiness that I’ve seen while they were having their coffee & frap were far beyond compare. The truth amazed me that parents do really find joy from the simple things that their children give them. And that I must say, is priceless…
We love you Mom & Dad…thank you for everything! c”,)
